Brighten up your bookshelf, with this Book Nook shelf insert. made from upcycled hardback books. This Booknook diorama has led lights in it, and is made to fit on your bookshelf, but you can also use it as a bedside light, on a table in your hallway, on a shelf your desk or anywhere you can fit it!
This is a library room. I made the book nook itself, the cosy chair, table, foot stool, the bookcases, pictures and the heaps of books myself. I try and made most of the contents myself, a lot from things that were destined for recycling.
There is a cosy chair, a wine glass and bottle of wine, and some works of art on the walls. There is a seated figure of a rather distinguee looking man, reading a book, his pipe, ashtray and matches are on the table. There is a tiny mouse trap….come on, we have all been there! The bookcase is heaped with books, a few little knick knacks, a tiny suitcase, mingled in with the books. There are lights clustered into a lampshade, these are warm white lights so give a nice warm glow, they are battery operated and take 2 AA batteries. The battery pack is located at the top of the spine, meaning you don’t have to move it to switch the light on and off. The book nook is black.
Approximate measurement are, almost 6” wide at the front, 9 1/2 tall, and 7” deep including the battery pack. Hand crafted by me taking quite a few hours, and made from modern day, in great condition, upcycled hardback books, but please allow for minor blemishes on the outside of the book. Yes I treasure books, but thousands upon thousand are sent to landfill each year as they can’t be recycled, so I remove the pages from these so they can be recycled.
